How to Export Etsy Reviews to Shopify?

Etsify provides a quick an easy way to store and migrate your Etsy product reviews to Shopify.

The process is broken down to 2 main steps, each step is a single (or, two - max) click. So, in total, we’re talking about 3-4 clicks (I did the math).

The reason we decided to break it to 2 steps, instead of doing it a single click migration is to allow you (the user) to download all your Etsy reviews for future reference.

So, how to import Etsy reviews to Shopify? Great question!

Step #1: Store the Reviews.

In this step, Etsify will pull all your Etsy reviews and store them in a CSV file. This CSV file can be downloaded from the 'Download Reviews' Tab.

This step takes some time, especially if you have a lot of reviews, so, let Etsify do its thing, just make sure not to close the Etsify’s Tab and that you are connected.

Important! If you choose to migrate your reviews to Shopify’s Product Reviews App (great choice!), make sure that you select in the 'Import Compatibility' field to store the reviews in a App-Compatible way. This will tell Etsify to format the CSV file in a way that Shopify’s Product Reviews App understands.

FAQ I don’t really want to import my bad reviews. What should I do?

Etsify gives you the option to import All Reviews (0 - 5 Stars), Neutral Reviews and Above (2-5 Stars) or Positive Reviews (5 Stars).

PLEASE NOTE: Etsy does not store the real star rating of reviews, but it does let us know if the review is Positive (5 Stars), Neutral (2 and above) or Negative (1 Stars). Since Etsify cannot now the exact rating of a review, it performs a positive-conversion to the Star Rating (meaning, the stored star rating can never be lower than the real star rating).

FAQ I don’t plan to import the reviews using Shopify’s Product Reviews App, what can I do?

In the 'Import Compatibility' field, you can choose to store the reviews in an 'Open Way', this means that the CSV file will include as much information as Etsify can pull. This would allow you to later modify the CSV to match any product reviews app you choose to use in the Future.

If you feel that the CSV file is missing some information - please let us know! We’ll be happy to look into it and see if we can add it to the CSV.

Step 2: Import the Reviews (With Shopify’s Product Reviews App)

Once you stored the Reviews, and you have Shopify’s Product Reviews App installed (its free, and pretty great) - download the CSV file, by heading to the Download Reviews tab.

Next, go to the Product Reviews App in Shopify, click on the Import button and import the CSV file you just downloaded.

FAQ Will Shopify import reviews I already imported with Etsify?

No. Shopify will skip any duplicate reviews (that you imported with Etsify already).
